Hi, April and welcome to PA, especially to our forum!

To answer your first question: Not yet!
We'll be working on it in the very near future to get the bylaws changed.

And, yes, I know of a firm in PA who has mostly voice writers. It's Commonwealth Reporting. Talk to Craig and tell him I sent you! They are located in Harrisburg area, but have work state wide.

I will email you the contact info.

April, I'm curious what it takes to attain your CRR and CVR certifications and how they compare with NCRA's certifications.

Do you mind sharing that information with us?

Hi Cheryl,

I studied for about a year under my mother who is also a court reporter. Living in Georgia I could have sat only for the Georgia Board of Court Reporting and been certified to only work there or I had the opportunity to sit fot the National Board of Court Reporting. I chose nationally. So my NVRA (National Verbatim Reporters Assoc.) gives me the CVR and I automatically received my CCR once I submitted my test scores to Georgia. We study to speak/repeat into a mask at 200 - 225 words per minute. I also sat for a lengthy written test. I use a computer for notes, dictation and am training for Real Time now (just starting) which is A WHOLE different story ha ha!!!) I hope I have helped you out in some way?!

Hi, April.

I know Center County has at least one voice writer, and I heard there may now be two voice writers. I wish you luck with your job search.

Thank you for sharing your information with us.

I have one question: Do you have to get continuing education units for your CRR, and if so what is it?

Bernadette.
