PCRA Annual Business Meeting and Election Information

Pursuant to Article VII of the Bylaws, the Nominating Committee respectfully submits the following recommended slate of officers for the 2019-2020 year:

Melissa Keating, RPR – President
Linda Larson, CSR, RPR, CLR, CRI – President-Elect
Colleen Wentz, RMR, CRR - Secretary-Treasurer

Pursuant to Article VII, Section 3 (E) of the Bylaws, this slate will be voted upon at the Annual Business Meeting, which will be held at the Hilton Harrisburg in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

Pursuant to Article VII, Section 3 (D) of the Bylaws, any nomination challenging a proposed nominee shall be received via U.S. Postal Service, certified mail, return receipt requested, at the business address of PCRA at least thirty (30) days prior to the Annual Meeting. Said challenging nominee must be supported by the signatures of at least twenty-five (25) members eligible to vote and consist of not more than five (5) from any one District. The Secretary-Treasurer shall be responsible for confirming the signatures and the good standing of the members. Such nomination(s) and supporting material shall be continuously posted in the registration area of the annual or special meeting.

June 8, 2018 Update

Rule 4000 changes have been published in PA Bulletin

As a result of PCRA’s ongoing representation on the Committee on Uniform Rules Governing Court Reporting and Transcripts, where we have tirelessly advocated for all court reporters in Pennsylvania, certain portions of Rule 4000 have been clarified. Of greatest importance is the Section 4000(D)(1), where COPY RATES FOR TRANSCRIPTS ARE LISTED.  Please Click here for more information on the updated COPY RATES.

Bucks County Justice Center, Doylestown, PA is looking for a full-time Court Reporter.  Click here for more information. This position is open until filled.  (Added March 2019) 

Official Court Reporter - Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Full-time Court Reporter position available immediately in beautiful Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Starting salary is $36,679.50. Paid vacation, sick leave, personal days, excellent benefits package. Court Reporters have the ability to do freelance work, depositions, preliminary hearings, etc., based upon court schedules. Reporter must provide their own CAT system, but the County of Lancaster pays a monthly stipend towards equipment. Official Court Reporter - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia County, is currently seeking highly-motivated court reporters interested in an officialship. Base salary is $55,594-$61,621 plus lucrative transcript income potential. This full-time position includes a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision, paid vacation, personal days, sick leave, holidays, and participation in the County’s pension program. Assignments include criminal and civil work. Criminal work includes preliminary hearings, major jury and homicide trials. On September 1, 2015, CBS 21 out of New Cumberland, PA ran an exciting segment about court reporting. This is great publicity for the profession and a terrific way of spreading the word about the need for students.

PCRA Announces Updated Student Mentor Program

As many of you know, serving as a mentor is a very rewarding experience and certainly, having an engaged mentor can make a huge difference for a student. PCRA is happy to announce that the Student Mentor Program has been updated with the creation of online forms that will make it easier for mentors to volunteer and students to request a mentor. Guidelines for both mentors and student “mentees” have also been developed. All the information is on the Community page on the PCRA website, but can also be accessed from the home page by using the button to the left, underneath the login box.
